Town Hall Meeting Minutes - June 16, 2009

** EVENTS **

- Friday, June 19th: Steelhead is hosting a 'Viva Las Vegas' themed event at the Steelhead Ballroom. Think of Elvis, the Rat Pack or the beautiful man eating tigers of Siegfried and Roy... or Siegfried and Roy. Also for your added delight the Lovely Cookie Girls shall be on the stage Live!

- Sunday, June 21st: 'Fey! Fairy dust, fairy rings, fey looks, changelings, fairy cake - what do you believe? what is merely myth-twined-mist? Join those who know that the Fae are not mere creatures from children's books. They take many forms. They are dark, dangerous, beautiful, and innocent - often all at the same time. Salon will explore the world of the Fey with CorpseLight DeSantis, TotalLunar Eclipse AND Tensai Hilra on June 21 at 2pm slt at Aether Salon. The Consulate of Europa Wulfenbach is proud to sponsor this seating of the Aether Salon.

- Friday June 26th: Bridal Formal event at the Kokopelli stage. Come as dressy or ghastly as you want. We'll have cake and only one bouquet we'll just let the ladies fight over it.

** STEELHEAD NING **

The Steelhead Ning moderators have been working on streamlining the Ning and cleaning things up a bit. We want to ensure that the Steelhead Ning remains informative and relevant to all Steelhead group members. Steelhead Management would also like to see any and all officially sponsored Steelhead blogs, social networks, calendars, and websites as integrated with the Steelhead Ning as possible. We are reviewing the Steelhead Sentinel and plan to fully integrate it into the Steelhead Ning.

We are also in the process of developing posting rules regarding various issues, including group formation and defining appropriate content. Once these rules are developed, they will be posted on the Ning for everyone to see. In the meantime, some functions (including group formation) will not be available to all members.

Steelhead Management and the Steelhead Ning moderators appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition. ** RFL **

RFL has assigned campsites; access pre-Relay will be to members of the builders' group ONLY. Lunar is our build captain, he will make the list of whose names will be submitted to group membership when the Relay sims materialize and are opened to campsite building.

We will keep our store open until Relay - please shop liberally! We have new items made just for this year's efforts and second-hand items both downstairs and upstairs.

We could also still use unique Steelhead fish to draw people to our Relay campsite, and to here later for fishing tournaments. OpenFish developer kits are available.

A reminder to anybody who's a Survivor or a Caregiver or wants to walk in a "hope ring" with them - PLEASE get registered on the website - to register for 1st lap, go to http://relayforlife.org/secondlife and click on "survivor and caregiver 1st lap registration" on the left side. read that page and it explains the process and has hyperlinks.

- Midsummer grand tour benefitting the Relay for Life Second Life: The tour starts Saturday June 20th at 11.30 AM and goes all the way until 3pm SLT the next day. Thank you to Annechen Lowey and Klaus Wulfenbach for tirelessly putting this together along with the sleepless nights and pulling of hair etc.

Steelhead's participation in the Grand Tour is Sunday June 21st at 12 Noon in Harborside sponsored by Searra Weatherhax.

The ANATHEM book discussion of the SECOND LIFE SECRET LIBRARY will be held in Caledon this upcoming Wednesday, at the Freeflow Mathic Park of Saint Orolo (slurl). Our host and discussion leader will be Mr. Zenmondo Wormser. START TIME: 7:30 PM SLT. The Secret Library hopes to see you there, even if you have not finished the novel, or ever started it! The Armada Breakway sim is a remarkable steampunk themed location based upon the fictional works of China Mieville, notably the SCAR. The Armadans and the Fleet of Wrath Exiles are currently involved in a mutual story based roleplay exercise-- with some battles and skirmishes taking place in world heavily supplemented by Journaling, bloggin and NING entries. If you would like to assist in a plot line this Thursday before Iron Melee, meet Hotspur at the Port Merrimac docks and we will head over to Armada to play the part of a gang of secret nautical thugs hired by a prominent Armadan citizen to kidnap another Armadan. Should start 6:30ish, meet at Port M.


** TENSAI TALK **

[20:28] Tensai Hilra: First off, Alot of you may have noticed that some of you were forced into a new viewer
[20:28] Tensai Hilra: The new viewer, hopefully works for all of you, but theoretically IS better.
[20:28] Tensai Hilra: Alot of fixes, and some new features
[20:29] Tensai Hilra: some of the things that shine out is fixed texture load and Texture cache
[20:29] Tensai Hilra: so the room doesn’t go grey when you turn around. Also, they did some tweaking on how sculpts collapse at a distance, so now they don’t crumple so badly
[20:30] Tensai Hilra: Bunch of adult crap thrown in that to be honest, probably wastes alot of processor
[20:31] Tensai Hilra: Now something that is interesting though, is the new Shadows...
Tensai Hilra: now one thinks this is all they are working on, but I've found this is actually a completely new rendering system
[20:32] Tensai Hilra: in my tests last night, I was able to get 48 SIMULTANEOUS Lights to show up
[20:33] Tensai Hilra: Also, they are revamping the bumpmapping and reflections syste
Tensai Hilra: if you would like to Try the shadows, i can help you, but you have to make sure you have sufficient hardware

Tensai Hilra: If you want help trying this new renderer, I'll send along a bit of instructions, but NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH.... it could get ugly, to the point of burned out cards
