Town Hall Meeting - July 14, 2009

- Wednesday, 6 to 8 PM SLT, Club Gearz: DJ Angelica will be playing oldies at Club Gearz on Wednesday night, so bebop on over and listen to some golden oldies!

- Wednesday, 8 to 10 PM SLT, Steeltopia Coal Power Plant: DJ Diamanda and Cobra.

- Friday, 7:00 PM SLT: Come camp with us at Boomtown Gardens (or at the Steelhead RFL site if we can get permission to enter early)......exact location to be announced. Bring your camping gear and s'mores.


** STEELHEAD PUBLIC LIBRARY **

- The Steelhead Public Library has an exhibit of 'The Wright Brothers.' For those who have not gone to visit, it is a very well put together exhibit with the history of flight and aviation’s well known female pilots. A free version of the Wright glider is for sale at the library gardens.


** RFL **

- Relay for Life Weekend: The RFL sims open Saturday at noon with opening ceremonies. The first lap begins at 1 PM SLT and is reserved for survivors and cargivers. Folks who would like to walk this lap must be pre-registered. Registration and other information can be found in the following notecards, in Town Hall by the podium, or you can visit http://steelheadsl.ning.com/group/salmons. Please come out to the campsite and cheer the relayers as they go past!


** STEELHEAD MISC **

- Anna Darwinian opened her storefront 'Steelhead Adventures Store' in Port Harbor.

- Welcome to Miss Saluda Odgar who opened two small storefronts of steampunk inspired paintings. Her gallery is called 'A Phantom Gallery.'

- Hotspur Otool announced he will be out of SL for an indefinite period of time due to RL developments. He hopes to return to SL in early September.

- Phineas Messmer announced he will be off line in late August while he relocates in RL from Michigan to Arizona.


** ROLEPLAY IN STEELHEAD **

Roleplay in Steelhead has been a hot topic of discussion lately in both group chat and the Ning. Management hopes to arrange further meetings to discuss the issue further, but these will not occur until after RFL is done. ** TENSAI'S TECH TALK **

"Starting in a few days, NASA will be running a realtime recreation of the Apollo 11 moonshot and it can be followed on their website, http://www.wechoosethemoon.org/.
It will feature a stream of the radio comms, Twitter talk, and photos and videos from the entire trip as they happened 40 years ago! So those of us who didn’t get to see it, and those who want to relive mans greatest conquest so far, check that out! the countdown is already running! Anyhow, check that out, and while your at it, check out http://www.nasa.gov and keep up to date on the Shuttle mission going up now tentatively Wednesday. If you'd like, I have the URL for the in-world stream for Nasa TV so you can watch the launch in SL. Okay Something for SL.... I told you before about the Gemini Viewer which I can see quite a few of you are using! Well seems the designer was using the Emerald back-end for his source... and he decided to JOIN the Emerald team! So Gemini will be no longer worked on, BUT all his improvements are being introduced to the emerald viewer! This means his tweaks, hacks, and skin will be brought in with that set and you will be able to run emerald as if it were Gemini. Also, one thing for alot of you to look forward to is YES it is MAC FRIENDLY! This was one of the major deciding points to his incorporating into the emerald. Sounds at this time, like within the week

Another viewer that was brought to my attention recently is another TEXT based viewer for those of you with severely limited speeds, such as wifi off the neighbors, or cellular! http://omvviewer-light.byteme.org.uk/

I've toyed with it a little, and it seems featureful... a little.... beta so be wary. SparkleIM works for iPhone but like SL of late, no group chat. It looks a bit like a chatroom. Sparkle works on all iPhones
