** STEELHEAD CITY OCTOBER EVENTS **
- Friday 16th: Exploring the New World on the Jolly Pigeon - Celebrating Columbus Day and all the great explorers from the Old World to the New World.
- Friday 23rd: Steampunk SteamCon 7pm SLT - Steampunk dance while many are attending the RL SteamCon in Seattle, WA.
- Friday 30th: Night of the Living Dead Masquerade Ball 7pm SLT
- Saturday 31st: Ghostly or Ghastly Dance 12pm SLT
- Spooky Story Readings: If you're interested in reading some spooky ghost stories for an audience, please send Lunar an IM with your name, what story you'd like to read and how long it is and what time slot you're available to do (AM or PM?). Tensai and Lunar are also going to serenade you with spooky ghost stories as well :)
- 2nd Annual Spookiest House Contest: We're going to have a competition of the spookiest homes in Steelhead including merchants. Drop a notecard on Dogg Food by Saturday the 24th stating that you're participating. Please include a landmark to your home or storefront. Management will put together a list of the participants. Voting will be held in the Town Hall.
- Haunted Tunnels: There will be a series of haunted tunnels through Boomtown, Steelhead and Shanghai. You'll get lost, you'll get scared...so bring a friend. More information towards the end of the month.
- Vendors Trick or Treat Hunt: We'll be distributing a candy prim to all of the merchants in Steelhead. If they would like to participate, they can hide the candy with a prize somewhere in their store for our trick or treaters. We'll send out more information later.
** STEELHEAD LIBRARY STUFF **
- The Library has no events this week. The ongoing exhibit about Portland's Chinatown will remain open until about Nov. 1.
- We are looking for people who would like to do a winter holiday exhibit (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hannukah, or other - appropriate to Steelhead's theme and period). Also for people to lead book or movie discussions. Please contact Riven Homewood or CeAire Decosta if you're interested.
** STEELHEAD CITY STUFF **
- Again congratulations to Tanarian Davies for winning the tartan contest. We hope to see some interesting creations now that we have a city tartan *cough kilts *cough Copy of the tartan will be sent with the meeting minutes.
- Ground Textures: In the meeting minutes we're sending you a notecard of the ground texture lists for Steelhead. This winter Tensai will be working on sculpted snow for sidewalks. Please change out your spring gardens as its fall.
- We still have land available in Steelhead, several 512's and smaller lots. I am sending an updated list of all the properties available in Steelhead. Please take time to look if you're interested or to send to someone who is interested in land in Steelhead.
- Manholes in Steelhead
It's been one of the civic projects of Lunar for awhile. The manholes you find are actually teleports down to the tunnel systems below for Steelhead, Boomtown and Shanghai. If you're underground, simply touch the ladder to return to the surface. If you want to go below, touch the manhole covers to go underground and explore. Eladrienne Laval has been creating some unique cover designs that will be unique to each city. So thank you and Kudos to her.
- As Steelhead has gone through changes, the red ballroom, the town hall, the saloon, even the iconic lighthouse landmark prominently featured on our flag has changed. We're making changes to the flag as well to update Steelhead... thank you to Nabila for sewing us a new flag as well.
- Our own Sheriff Ortega wrote an article about Steelhead Shanghai for the most recent issue of the Primgraph Magazine.
** OTHER RANDOM STUFF IN THE STEAMLANDS **
- From Winterfell: Now the BoobieBalls are over for another year. In two days of fund-raising and FAR TOO MUCH FUN, we have raised over 280K lindens or just over $1100.00 USD!!!! Thanks to everyone who contributed!!
The vendors are still in the Winterfell Community center where the events were held. Please go take a look at the wonderful items in the vendors including some gorgeous clothing from Nabila Nadir, and a breast cancer awareness ironclad courtesy of the Boys in the Backroom - Wrath Fleet engineers, MrBunwah Murakami and Justinian Huszar.
- The Limerick Contest will be held Wednesday, October 7th at 6:30pm SLT in Winterfell Anodyne. High above Eva Bellambi's Castle on the Isle of Skye.
There will be 4 contestants in the main event, which shall consist of three rounds. Each round will have a different theme or topic which must somehow be incorporated into the limerick - rather like the secret ingredient.

You STILL have the chance to judge this fun event! How? Simply send Eva Bellambi a notecard in world with your name indicating that you wish to judge the competition AND what you are bidding/donating for the honor of being a judge. The three top bidders/donators will judge the main event. Please get your notecards to Eva as soon as possible. After the main event, there will be the opportunity for all others to share in the fun - A Limerick Melee! Popular vote will determine this winner. Donation kiosks will be available throughout the event.
There is a serious side to this event, of course. Not only will we be collecting donations for the BoobieThon (Susan G. Koman Foundation), but we will also be providing education about MEN and Breast Cancer. This is meant to be an event to highlight this little thought of group of breast cancer patients.
